To bring this vision to life, I curated a nature-inspired palette of cool blue-green gray, greiges, and off-white to create a calming foundation. Rich textures, wallpapers, and art with cultural motifs added depth and personalization. Accents of gold, pewter, and bronze echoed traditional design elements, while the warmth of wood flooring grounded the space. Each room flows seamlessly into the next, balancing functionality with beauty and offering a welcoming atmosphere for relaxation, family time, and entertainment
The kitchen felt dark, with black countertops and stained cabinets blending into the floors. While the rest of the house felt light and airy, we had to match the kitchen to feel the same way, so we changed out the countertops, backsplash and painted the cabinets a lighter color which opened up the entire floor and made it seem larger than it actually is.
The powder room/guest bathroom, was very dated and we needed to remodel it, where we had to go down to the studs to build it back up to what you see. It was very dated because of the tiles used and the paint color used previously. Now it is fresh and airy and larger than it is because of the materials used.
This Cary, NC, project is one of my most cherished designs. Having collaborated with these clients on their first home, I was honored to work with them again to create a space that reflects their lifestyle and serves as a retreat from their busy schedules. They envisioned a home that blends culturally inspired elements with modern aesthetics while promoting their health and well-being.
The master bedroom had to be a place of relaxation, and rejuvenation so that the clients could lead the busy lifestyle of taking kids to and from school and after-school activities while also running their very stressful business that requires a space that completely unwinds them of their daily activities.
The daughter was heading to college at the time, so her room needed to represent her unique grown-up style, yet still an extension of the color scheme employed in the rest of the house.
